Rejoice, Rejoice, Immanuel

I am thankful:

It’s been a marathon week, full of preparations, cooking, fellowship and delicious food.

Thankful for laughter and the love of Jesus. For friends and family and full bellies. For memories that make us laugh and make us cry. Even for 82° weather that doesn’t feel at all like Christmas.

Thankful for a house literally bursting at the seams: 12 million cookies, 11 golden doodles, 10 thousand presents, 9 crazy kids, 2 tired parents, 1 bonus uncle, 1 grandmommy, and a partridge in a pear tree!

Whatever your Christmas looked like or felt like, I hope you were able to find joy in the Lord. He is faithful, truly Immanuel, God with us.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Thanks for giving thanks with me.

““The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).” (Matthew 1:23)

“Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” (Psalms 73:23-26)

  1. I love passing the light of a candle to the next person, at the Christmas Eve Service. I love getting together with my family at Christmas – that’s amazing and different! Did you make your famous crawfish bisque with a kick of heat? How wonderful that your grown children were home, that Uncle Mike and Justin and Gina, and Susan K were all at your table! Glorious! What a reunion it will be when we go to be with the Lord and see our precious friends and family members who have already gone to heaven! Like Christmas x 1 million!! I was praying for you this morning, that the Holy Spirit would squash any attempt of the enemy to try to steal your joy with worry or anxiety or …… . I remember making cookies with your children when they were much younger, at the “old house.” And did those treats on your counter look wonderful?! I wish I was closer, to share a cup of coffee and a big fat gingerbread cookie, or one of those new cranberry treats. You and your dear family are one of the best “presents” I have ever been given. Love those verses from Psalm 73 that you included and your Happy Birthday Jesus shirts.
    Love always and forever.
