I am thankful:
~ for a marathon week! When I took a look at the calendar on Monday, my nerves got a little intense.
But God.
~ for glorious fall weather. The dropping temps = sweatshirts and cozy pants and pumpkin everything!

~ for a wonderful, long overdue lunch with a friend. No matter how busy, it was a bright spot worth making room for.
~ for a quick trip to Athens to see our friends at Treehouse Cupcakes. A dedicated HERO warrior mama, Caitlin and her family went GOLD for the month of September, and raised funds for Gold Network, so it was so special to do a check presentation with them. 4 year old HERO, Karter, signed the check himself.

He was such a cutie. To spark a smile for the picture, his grandad shouted, “Turkey Lips!” “Turkey lips?” I replied incredulously, and turned to Karter to ask him, “Who has turkey lips?” He didn’t miss a beat, his eyes twinkling as he whispered, “YOU!!”

~ missed mentioning last week’s check presentation at Judson Middle School in Longview. The students hosted a GO GOLD event, and collected both an incredible donation of funds and filled my bus to the brim with toys for the CCBD Prize Closet!

~ for a trip with 6 kids to the dentist with ZERO CAVITIES!!!
~ for an amazing afternoon spent with the cyclists and honorees at the Lone Star Circle of Life Bike Tour finale. Hearing the intimate stories of heartbreaking loss and the selfless gift of life was truly moving. Several of our Gold Network Heroes were honored and blood and bone marrow recipients. Such a special event.

~ for another divide and conquer Saturday with football and cross country. It was definitely a chilly one! Gavin had a great game and Kora hit a new personal record.
~ for the wonder and amazement as the kids and I observed the solar eclipse. “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
(Psalms 19:1)

~ for lots of going down on the farm. My latest favorite: string lights in the garden.

As I shared in last week’s Sunday Gratitude, the garden is my favorite spot. I love to tease Josh, reminding him that he told me back in April that I couldn’t have a garden this year. 10 beds, a patio, fence, and a pergola later…it is exactly charming garden I had dreamed of…probably even better! We moved Tatum K’s nearly forgotten little cedar playhouse to its new cozy spot, and she has spent most of the weekend in it. Gavin hung a me new hook for the hummingbird feeder. I’m having a ball adding more and more plants, tending to my pumpkins, and planning for even more upgrades. Roses will go in this week. Stay tuned!

~ for a breakfast date with my Love. First Watch is our favorite spot, and as usual, it did not disappoint.

~ and for a thrilling victory tonight, as the Texas Rangers pounded the Astros in Game 1 of the ALCS. Josh is the #1 Rangers fan, and there’s no one more fun (or more entertaining) to watch a game with.

Long, busy week. I am tired and my heart is full. Dear Lord, we DO have so much to be thankful for.
Thanks for giving thanks with me.
